| yippie - well after some help from John Yim (thanks for trying to help Preston) i almost bought a 98 blk on blk from ebay - was a 6spd sport w/ only 38k miles on it - the problem was they only wanted 26,700 for it - bluebook on it was closer to 30k - so i had john yim go test drive it for me and said it drove fine and looked great - but the trick was the guys wanted me to bid (reserve was already met) prior to it having a certified BMW inspection and service history run (car fax was clean). This upset me b/c they had originally said they would be fine w/ running it prior to my bid and as it worked out their auction ended sunday night - well long story short i told them as long as they agreed to let the sale be contingent upon it passing the bmw cert. inspection and if the service history was clean i'd buy. They said thats fine- just bid - but they wouldnt put it in writing. At this point i got pissed w/ their backing out of original agreements and went back to some others i found a few days prior to finding the black on black .....i had forgotten about the 97 6spd sport i found up near pittsburgh - so i found that ad and the email from the owner and it sounded like a very nice car and a good deal. Its a 97 Titanium silver on black, 52k miles, 6spd sport, 2 owner (which the 1st owner owned the local BMW dealership and it was his personal car and the 2nd owner owns a local used car dealership and was his personal car), clean carfax, still has the CPO warranty for another 4 months, the bmw service history checked out very clean, and it already had a full AC Schnitzer body kit, clear fronts and rears, and remus exhuast. Never had any accidents, never had any engine work/mods/upgrades and the price was right. He wanted 27500 on the ad, his first email said he'd go 26k for a quick sale and then i talked him down to 24900 for cash sale - very classy guy - gave me all info i wanted, offered to get me transportation from the airport, gave me the carfax on it, throwing in a $300 car cover and gaurantees this car to be a dream car. So then monday i have "Impulse Z" run the bmw service history of the other bmw - the black on black 98 6spd - well luckily that one went foul cuz it came back w/ over 23 visits to bmw alone - in his words "its a shitcan - do not buy" So anyway that made me feel good about walking away from that 98 blk. At the risk of sounding racist - i hate dealing w/ middle eastern car salesment - the guy was trying to blame his accent on our agreements - and swore up and down it had a clean bmw history....anyone can be a scam artist, but i hate when people blame their accent/lack of language as the reason Everything has gone fine w/ the silver on black and i get her tomorrow at around 1pm - its up near pitt and my friend is driving me up tomorrow.
